PFU scanners rebranded in April 2023 under the Ricoh brand
PFU Limited (hereinafter “PFU”), under the direction of President and Representative Director Seiji Murakami, is rebranding its image scanners, that boast the largest market share globally*1, from the Fujitsu brand to the Ricoh brand. Affected products include the fi Series, the SP Series, and the ScanSnap Series.
Upon completion of the company’s stock transfer on September 1, 2022, PFU joined the Ricoh Group, entering the next stage in its 60+ year history. At this time, the company’s flagship scanning business is also coming under the Ricoh brand from April 2023.
Moving forward, by adding the worldwide sales channels available to the Ricoh Group to the already existing channels of PFU, there are plans to extend the distribution of these scanners to even more customers.
PFU has been committed to “manufacturing from the customers’ perspective” since its establishment and continues to support a revolution in digital transformation and business processes with its global share No. 1 scanning technology.
Background and Purpose
In pursuit of Ricoh Group vision for 2036 “Fulfillment through Work”, scanners are indispensable edge devices that facilitate digitization within the customers’ workflow by serving as an entry point to digital services. All scanner products will be rebranded as Ricoh and be integrated into Ricoh’s product and services portfolio, which also contains Ricoh’s MFPs and printers, thereby providing substantial synergy to both PFU and Ricoh.
PFU plans to utilize the worldwide sales channels of both PFU and Ricoh to provide even more customers with scanners of increased value.
In addition to rebranding its scanners, PFU will exert not only PFU’s strength but also Ricoh’s collective strength, including the technological prowess and sales force, to provide customers with new products and value.
They hope that customers will continue to support the synergy between PFU and Ricoh.

All PFU scanners will be rebranded as Ricoh.
This change will affect the brand that appears on the machines’ screen-printed labels and the packaging logos, but the model names, specifications, and functions will remain the same as before.
